The robberies and homicide, which took place on the 5th of February in Novye Aldyh, have been acknowledged by The Prosecutor's office to be done by OMON officers of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and Ryazan.
As the authors of the report note, this was a false trail: the Ryazan OMON were there on the 10th of February; however, the Russian Ministry of Defense servicemen had conducted the “cleansing” on the 5th of February. However, they could not find those to be charged as defendants. In fact, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was engaged in outright sabotage of the investigation.
